The River Ice Advisory for the Peace River near the Town of Peace River has ended. The Peace River ice front is now advancing upstream of Shaftesbury Ferry.

For Christmas Eve, crews will be headed to the main loop in Lower West Peace for snow removal Wednesday, Dec. 24.

Snow removal continues tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 23) as crews plan to remove snow on the main loop in Shaftesbury on 92 Street.

Alberta Environment and Protected Areas has ended the Ice Jam Watch for the Peace River from the Town of Peace River to the Highway 986 bridge.

The Peace River Fire Department presented a small token of appreciation to Gordon and Barb Drummond for their many years of support of the Fire Department at their annual awards night earlier this month.

Crews are planned to continue snow removal in the South End tomorrow (Monday, Dec. 22).

We know this ongoing snowfall has been tough on everyone, and it really is an all-hands-on-deck situation. Our crews are working at maximum capacity to manage the snow, and community help makes a big difference during conditions like this.

The Peace River and County of Northern Lights Fire Departments held their Annual Awards Night on December 6th in Peace River.

Alberta Environment and Protected Areas has issued a River Ice Advisory for the Peace River from the Hwy 986 Bridge to the Town of Peace River.

Crews are planned to continue snow removal in Saddleback Friday, Dec. 19, progressing into the South End as conditions allow.

Snow removal and clearing will continue overnight and into the weekend, with crews focused on the South End.

With the heavy snowfall, please remember to check and clear snow and ice from around your home’s vents and exhaust pipes, including furnace, fireplace, and dryer vents.

For residents who recently signed up for the Monthly Tax Payment Plan, your payments will begin being automatically withdrawn starting January 2026. Also, please note that unpaid taxes by the end of the calendar year face an 18% penalty.

Snow Angels is a community-based program facilitated by Peace River FCSS. Residents who need assistance can place a Snow Angels sign on their lawn, and when it snows, volunteers can step in to help out when they’re able.
