Seasonal Clean-up

Each Spring and Fall, the Town of Peace River organizes a town-wide large item pickup for residential utility customers only.

May 25 Update:

Crews finished off general garbage and large item collection for spring clean-up today.

Some items, such as tires and TVs, were left behind as they are ineligible for the program.

Starting Tuesday, crews will be collecting the freon appliances (fridges, freezers, etc.). We've been notified that a lot of them don't have tags stating they've been drained, and tag-less appliances will not be collected. So if you want your freon appliance collected, make sure it's been tagged by an approved technician.

This year’s Spring Curbside Clean Up will run May 19 to May 22, 2026.

How It Works

  • Place your items at the front of your property, where they are easily accessible from the road (this includes back-alley customers).
  • Have items out by 8:00 a.m. on May 19 and leave them in place until collected. Crews collect different waste types at different times. All items must be out the morning of May 19.
  • All items must fit within a 2m x 4m area on your yard, weigh less than 100 lbs (the weight limit is 200 lbs for White Good products, such as refrigerators), and be less than 3m in length.
  • Keep at least 1m clearance on all sides of your garbage cart.
  • Items that pose safety risks (e.g., wood with excessive nails, hazardous materials) will not be collected.
  • Please tag certain items (basketball and hockey nets, lawnmowers, wheelbarrows, rain barrels, bicycles, etc.) so crews know they are out for collection.

Large Item Limit

  • Two large items per household.
  • Large items include appliances and bulky furniture.
  • Yard waste (branches, leaves, grass) and bundled construction materials (wood, drywall, flooring) are collected separately and do not count toward the two-item limit.

Accepted Items

  • Appliances: stoves, washers, dryers; fridges, freezers, and air conditioners accepted only if tagged free of refrigerants by an approved technician – untagged units will not be collected.
  • Furniture: couches, chairs, mattresses, box springs, tables, etc.
  • Sinks and toilets.
  • Barbecues (tanks must be removed).
  • Lawn and garden equipment: mowers, snowblowers, wheelbarrows, rain barrels (all fluids must be drained).
  • Lawn furniture.
  • Bicycles, hockey nets, basketball nets (disassembled where possible).
  • Tree trimmings (cut to 2m lengths, bundled with twine).
  • Leaves and grass (in clear bags).
  • Wood, drywall, flooring (bundled or neatly piled, with minimal nails).

Not Accepted

  • Electronics (TVs, stereos, computers, printers, etc.).
  • Car parts.
  • Batteries of any kind.
  • Tires.
  • Snowmobiles or swing sets (assembled).
  • Propane tanks.
  • Very Large Items: anything greater than 3m in length or weighing more than 100 lbs (besides White good products, which can be up to 200 lbs)

(Electronics and batteries can be taken to the Eco Centre. Contact them directly for accepted items and recycling options.)

Need to Coordinate?

If you have paving or road work in front of your property that will block access to your items, please contact the Town Office.

Anything Missed?

If your items haven't been collected by May 22, call Prairie Disposal at (780) 539-5950.

Remember that all items must be out the morning of May 19, so do not place items out later in the week and then call that they were missed. Thank you!
