Artifact Donations
The Peace River Museum is a Recognized Museum through the Alberta Museums Association ensuring that we maintain best practice standards.
Our Artifact Collections Mandate is to collect, preserve and make publicly accessible objects representative of the human and natural history of the Town of Peace River and Shaftesbury Settlement.
If you have items you wish to donate to the museum, please contact the museum in advance to discuss your donation. We are unable to accept artifacts from outside of our mandate area, but we are happy to connect you with a Museum in that location where possible.
Archival Donations
The Peace River Archives is an institutional member of the Archives Society of Alberta and as such, conform to a high standard of preservation.
Our Archival Collections Mandate is to collect, preserve and make publicly accessible the documentary history of the Town of Peace River and the North Peace Region. To this end, we will accept material from within the following municipalities: Town of Peace River, County of Northern Lights, County of Northern Sunrise, Clear Hills County, Municipal District of Peace and Municipal District of Fairview.
If you have items that you wish to donate to the Archives, please contact the museum in advance to discuss your donation.
Financial Support
The cost of running a museum, especially a growing museum, is a significant one. The Peace River Museum, Archives and Mackenzie Centre depends on the Town of Peace River, fundraising efforts from groups such as the Sir Alexander Mackenzie Historical Society, government grants, and from the generous donations of patrons.
If you would like to support our museum financially, or find out about our needs, please contact the Museum at museum@peaceriver.ca or 780-624-4261.
Charitable Donation Receipts for Income Tax purposes can be provided for monetary donations over $20.
Richardson/Campbell Museum Fund
The Town of Peace River is grateful to local donors Lorne and Melanie Campbell, for their establishment of a legacy fund to the Peace River Museum and Archives.

The Richardson/Campbell Museum Fund is administered by the Town of Peace River through the Ron and Peggy Campbell Legacy Fund managed as a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) by the Edmonton Community Foundation. It was established by Lorne and Melanie Campbell in memory of Lorne’s father, Ron Campbell, and mother, Peggy Campbell, to honor their residence in Peace River and contributions to the Town. It also honors Peggy’s parents, Charlie and Mabel Blanchard Richardson, and Ron’s parents, Archie Campbell and Mary McDougall Campbell, all of whom resided in Peace River. Its purpose is to provide financial support to the Peace River Museum, Archives and Mackenzie Centre.
The Edmonton Community Foundation is a registered charitable public foundation. The Foundation assembles and administers permanent pools of capital so that the returns can be perpetually reinvested in charitable organizations.
