What is Family and Community Support Services (FCSS)?

Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) operates through a collaborative funding arrangement between municipalities or Metis settlements and the Province of Alberta, established under the FCSS Act and Regulation. FCSS focuses on delivering preventive social programs designed to promote and enhance the well-being of individuals, families, and communities at the earliest opportunity.

In Peace River, FCSS offers a range of prevention-focused family and youth programs, as well as community events. A key role of FCSS is connecting individuals with local organizations that offer additional support through our Information and Referral service.

FCSS also supports seniors with a focus on healthy aging in place, helping individuals remain in their homes for as long as possible.

Everyone Needs Help Sometimes

FCSS has put together a comprehensive list of community resources, covering everything from food and wellness to parenting and safety. You can pick up an Everybody Needs Help booklet at the Town Office and various other locations around town. Additionally, a printable poster version is available for download:

FCSS grants are available to non-profit groups providing prevention-based services to Peace River Residents.
