Curbside Leaf & Yard Waste Collection

Prairie Disposal Ltd. provides seasonal curbside yard waste collection in Peace River from April 1 to October 31. They collect organic materials such as grass clippings, leaves, branches, and brush.
 

Collection Rules & Guidelines:

Bag Limit: 3

Bag requirements: Put grass and leaves in clear, transparent bags (compostable). 

Weight limit: Each bag must weigh less than 20 kilograms.

Condition: Bags must be free of rips and tears.

Branches: Bundle branches so they measure no longer than 1 metre and no wider than 0.5 metres.

Placement: Place bags at the curb on your regular garbage collection day, 1 meter from your garbage cart. Both the garbage cart and yard waste bags will be collected at the same time.

 

Leaf & Yard Waste Collection Bins

The Town of Peace River has Yard Waste Disposal Bins set up each year at the north end of the Centennial parking lot (9802 101 Street), specifically — and ONLY — for yard waste.

Important Info

The Yard Waste bins are typically set up from May 1st – October 31st of each year. The dates for operating the bins will be dependant on the weather and may be set up earlier.

What can I put in the Yard Waste Bins?

Compostable and Paper Bags used to hold any yard waste are acceptable (Plastic bags must be emptied in the bin and disposed of separately)

  • Tree and shrub trimmings
  • Plant remains
  • Grass clippings
  • Leaves
  • Trees
  • Stumps

Why can’t I put my plastic bags in the Yard Waste Bins?

Putting plastic bags, or any other household waste in the Yard Waste Bins, contaminates the entire contents of the bin when it is dumped at the landfill. Contaminants in the bin also doubles the cost when dumping at the landfill.

The Town of Peace River is committed to providing services to residents that make it easier to keep our Town looking clean and well maintained. In order to continue these efforts, co-operation from residents by following the regulations for use of the bins, is essential.
