Downtown Peace River is the heart of the community. To enhance and maintain our beautiful town, we are looking for interested community groups to assist with sprucing up the level of cleanliness in the downtown area.
Objectives:
- Assist the Town and downtown businesses with the beautification of the downtown area and other high-visibility areas in the community.
- Support local not-for-profits groups, organizations, and clubs.
How does this work?
Not for profits/community groups register to take a “shift” of approximately 2 hours/week with a minimum number of 4 participants.
- There will be one shift per week available, with the dates assigned by the Town.
- Guaranteed a minimum of 2 weeks will be assigned per group out of the available 28 Weeks.
- Shifts will be 2 hours
- Program Timeframe: April 14th to October 30th
Groups will receive a financial contribution to their organization of $200 for every 2-hour shift.
Process:
- Register your not-for-profit for a 2-hour shift to clean up garbage within the downtown area.
- Maps are provided of the designated area for their week. Groups are asked to stay within the identified downtown area.
- Other areas of the community may be assigned, on a case-by-case basis.
- Please pick up all garbage found along the curb, sidewalks, and adjacent to buildings.
- Bags and garbage picking tools will be provided.
- Volunteers must be in pairs.
Requirements:
- Must be a registered non-profit, club, or organization in Alberta.
- Priority will be given to organizations located in Peace River.
To register:
- Interested groups must pre-register through the link on the Town website by April 7, 2025 (link is below).
- If there are more than 10 organizations that register, a random lottery will be used to identify the successful participants.
- All other groups will be waitlisted – to be called upon to fill a week if an organization is unable to fulfill their commitment.
- A second call for groups may occur, based on the level of interest.
- Register by April 7th to ensure your organization has an opportunity to be included in the program.
