Municipal Budgets
The Municipal Government Act requires that every municipality adopt an annual operating and capital budget, along with a 3-year operating plan and 5-year capital plan.
Annual budgets allocate funding so that the Town can deliver services to residents and our business community and build and maintain the infrastructure that maintains a high quality of life in Peace River. This includes the roads that get people around; the systems that bring water to your home and carry wastewater away; the police, fire, and bylaw enforcement services that keep our community safe; the recreation facilities and programs that keep you active; along with all the other things that make Peace River such a great place to live.

Operating Plans
The Municipal Government Act requires that municipalities prepare a written plan for anticipated financial operations over a period of at least the next three financial years, and anticipated capital property additions over a period of at least the next five years.
The purpose these plans is to provide an overview of the Town's anticipated operating activities and capital needs for the upcoming years. This ensures that the Town is not only prepared for the projected activities and service levels but that costs of these activities are planned in a fiscally responsible manner. The result is a greater level of stability in tax rates over the next four years.
The operating plan also allows the Town to build-in projected increases in annual operating costs. Examples of this are fuel, insurance, and wages; projected inflationary increases in these costs can be included and the proposed service changes affecting these costs can be applied.
