Taxi Licensing
The Town of Peace River Bylaw #2040 establishes guidelines for taxi companies and taxi drivers. Taxi companies are required to obtain company licensing and individual taxi driver permits. These are renewed annually. Any inquires about Taxi Licensing can be directed to applications@peaceriver.ca.
Important Information
In the Town of Peace River Taxi Companies are required to display company decals, unit numbers, and fare rates on the outside of every taxi. Companies are required to maintain vehicles in a clean and presentable condition.
Taxi Driver Permits must be on display at all times when the taxi is in operation.
Taxi Company Licensing
Taxi companies are required to apply for an annual Taxi License. The application process endures that taxi companies are aware of the guidelines they are required to follow, and that the Town is provided accurate contact information for the company operations. Applications can be submitted to applications@peaceriver.ca.
Taxi companies are required to provide yearly taxi mechanical inspections, a copy of their current commercial registration, and commercial livery insurance coverage for all vehicles in their fleet.
Taxi Driver Permits
All taxi drivers are required to obtain a Taxi Driver Permit (separate from the company licensing). Taxi drivers must renew their license yearly and provide:
- Current Alberta Class 1, 2 or 4 driver’s license
- Current (within 30 days) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Current Alberta Driver’s Abstract (within 3 months)
- Within 180 days taxi drivers must provide a Certified Criminal Record Check (with fingerprints) from the RCMP.
