Temporary Road Closure applications must be made for the following:
Events, parades, fairs, festivals, walks or other similar activities. Applications for these types of events must be submitted to the Town of Peace River, no less than 30 days in advance of the event.
Road Work, Construction, gas, electricity, sewer, or other such work. Applications for a temporary road closure involving work shall be provided to the Town of Peace River within a reasonable timeline.
Standard Conditions of Approval
The Applicant must comply with all applicable laws, including Bylaws and Policies of the Town of Peace River.
The Applicant is to ensure that the participants provide right-of-way to emergency vehicles.
The Applicant is responsible for any resulting clean-up of the route or location at which the closure occurs.
Approvals may include additional conditions. Failure to comply with these conditions could result in the approval being withdrawn, denial of future applications and/or prosecution for breach of Town Bylaws.
After submitting a temporary road closure and confirming approval with The Town of Peace River, the applicant(s) shall:
Adhere to all temporary road closure policies and procedures. In the interest of public safety, failure to comply may result in closure of the event and will negatively impact future applications.
Pay for any damage to municipal property however caused, arising out of or during the use of the facilities under this application.
Ensure the clean- up and/or removal of all garbage upon completion of the event.
Be present, or have a designate on site, for the duration of the temporary road closure.
Be responsible for the placement and removal of barricades at the locations specified in the “Temporary Road Closure Application Form”.
Direct and control traffic for the duration of the event or road closure.
Inform all impacted businesses in the area of the closure, by letter or hand-delivered memo at least 10 business days in advance of the event, or the particulars of the approved temporary road closure and any detour route available to them.
After submitting a temporary road closure and confirming approval with The Town of Peace River, the applicant(s) shall:
Adhere to all temporary road closure policies and procedures.
Facilitate an alternate plan with the Town for access to residential garbage or recycling collection if necessary.
Pay for any damage to municipal property however caused, arising out of or during the use of the facilities under this application.
Ensure the clean- up and/or removal of all garbage upon completion of the closure.
Be present, or have a designate on site, for the duration of the temporary road closure.
Be responsible for supplying adequate signage and barricades for the duration of the road closure.
Be responsible for the placement and removal of barricades at the locations specified in the “Temporary Road Closure Application Form”.
Direct and control traffic for the duration of the event or road closure.
Inform all impacted businesses in the area of the closure, by letter or hand-delivered memo at least 10 business days in advance of the event, or the particulars of the approved temporary road closure and any detour route available to them.
