Instructions

  • Garbage carts must be curb side by 7 am on the day of collection.
  • All waste must be bagged in the garbage cart.
  • Garbage cart lids must be closed.
  • Garbage carts must not be overstuffed. If they are overstuffed, the garbage may not come out during the collection process.
  • The garbage cart must be facing forward.
  • The wheels of the garbage cart must be against the curb (where possible).
  • Garbage carts must have at least one metre of clearance on all sides, including from other garbage carts, vehicles and other obstructions.
  • For garbage cart issues or service concerns, residents must contact Prairie Disposal directly.

Missed Pick-ups

If your garbage was not picked up on its scheduled day, you can report it here: https://www.peaceriver.ca/home-property-utilities/waste-management/repo…

Who to Contact – Prairie Disposal

Under the Town’s waste collection agreement, Prairie Disposal is responsible for all garbage cart–related service requests.

Residents must contact Prairie Disposal directly for:

  • Damaged garbage carts
  • Stolen or missing carts
  • Requests for new or replacement carts

The Town of Peace River does not handle garbage cart requests.

The Town will only become involved after Prairie Disposal has been contacted and Prairie Disposal reaches out to the Town for confirmation.

Cul-De-Sac Collection:

Collection in cul-de-sacs can be challenging due to limited space. If you live in a cul-de-sac your instructions for garbage collection differ slightly from regular collection.

Ensure vehicles are parked either on your driveway or in your garage on collection day, and that any other obstacles (like basketball hoops) are moved off the street.

If your vehicle has to remain on the street, make sure it is parallel parked, with passenger-side tires to the curb. This ensures the collection truck can reach your carts — and that it has space to actually drive through your cul-de-sac.

Garbage carts should be placed on the street, 1 metre past any parked vehicles.

What if I have Extra Garbage?

If you have extra bagged garbage that will not fit in the garbage cart, bag tags are available for purchase.

Bag Tags may be purchased at the Town office reception for $2.00 per tag.

Extra bags of garbage will not be collected unless they have a bag tag attached to each bag.

Bag tags must be placed to be easily visible to the garbage truck driver.

Garbage Cart Damage, Missing Carts, or Replacements

Garbage carts that are damaged during collection, missing, or need replacement must be reported directly to Prairie Disposal.

Prairie Disposal is responsible for reviewing and addressing all garbage cart service requests under the current agreement.

The Town of Peace River does not process requests for damaged, stolen, or missing garbage carts.

The Town will only be involved if Prairie Disposal contacts the Town for confirmation following a resident inquiry.
