The Town of Peace River has a new training tool thanks to a donation from Union Tank Car Company & Procor Ltd. A rail car, formerly used to transport corn syrup, will be used by Peace River and other regional departments for Rail Hazmat Training.
This project was possible through the generous donation of services and equipment from:
- Union Tank Car Company & Procor Limited - for the donation of the Tank Car and transport logistics.
- Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway - for the transport of the Car from Muscatine, Iowa to Chicago, Illinois.
- CN Rail - for the transport of the Car from Chicago to Grimshaw, and for the installation of the rail tracks at the yard.
- LaPrairie Crane - for the transport of the Car from Grimshaw to Peace River and placement on the tracks in the training yard.
“I would like to very much thank Captain Mike Frayne for the incredible job he did in pursuing and securing this prop and organizing its transport and installation,” said Peace River Fire Chief and Regional Fire Chief for the County of Northern Lights Fire Services, Tim Harris.
“This rail car will enhance our ability to train for rail car incidents and hazardous materials response,” said Cpt. Frayne, adding this is a benefit to the entire region.
