The town will illuminate the Peace River bridge in indigo the evening of Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in honour of Parker Wells at the request of the community.
Parker’s story has deeply touched people across Alberta, including many here in Peace River. In response, some local residents are planning a community gathering to honour his memory and show support for his family.
Why indigo?
The colour indigo has become associated with the proposed Indigo Alert initiative, which advocates for greater protection of autistic and other vulnerable individuals. Lighting the bridge in indigo is a show of support for Parker’s family while also recognizing the importance of awareness, inclusion, and the protection of vulnerable people.
