Peace River Rotaract presented with inaugural Key to the Town
PEACE RIVER, AB – The Town of Peace River presented its first-ever Key to the Town to Peace River Rotaract in recognition of the organization’s extraordinary volunteer service and lasting contribution to the community.
Mayor Shelly Shannon presented the ceremonial key during the opening of the third annual Rotaract River Days celebration on June 19, 2026.
Founded six years ago by a group of young professionals committed to making a difference in their hometown, Rotaract has grown into one of Peace River’s most active volunteer organizations. Through community beautification, major events, and initiatives supporting local businesses and the economy, its members have brought new energy and pride to Peace River.
“Six years ago, a handful of volunteers decided they could make Peace River better. Today, an entire community is standing here to tell them that they did,” said Mayor Shannon.
The Key to the Town is a symbolic civic honour recognizing exceptional service, leadership, and commitment to Peace River.
“Rotaract has shown what can happen when people choose action, service, and community,” Mayor Shannon said. “This key represents the gratitude and pride of the entire community.”
The Town of Peace River congratulates Rotaract and thanks its members, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters for everything they have done and continue to do for Peace River.
