On July 8, 2025, the Town of Peace River invited Roger Brooks of the Destination Development Association to perform an assessment of the community. One of the main takeaways was to establish better wayfinding within our town, not just to help tourists and newcomers navigate our community, but also to remind locals of locations and attractions they may not have been aware of.
We're pleased to say that new wayfinding signs have now been installed downtown, on the West Hill, and on other routes visitors may travel while looking for key attractions and points of interest across our town.
This will help increase awareness and ease of navigation in our community and can also help increase retail sales. More signs, including facility, trail, and updated entrance signage is planned over the next two to three years.
This project is funded through a $200,000 matching grant from Alberta's Northern and Regional Economic Development Program.
Here, Town of Peace River Mayor Shelly Shannon, Councillor Brandon Dous, CAO Kayla Parsons, and Director of Community Services Tanya Bell celebrate the signs' installation over the past week.
