"On behalf of the Town of Peace River and our community, I extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the three people who lost their lives in an aircraft crash while supporting wildfire operations near Fort Simpson, Northwest Territories, this week.
Their deaths are a heartbreaking loss for the wildfire and firefighting community.
This tragedy is a reminder of the risks taken by those who serve and protect our communities during wildfire emergencies. We join in mourning these three individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of their neighbours' safety.
We also recognize the responders and wildfire personnel grieving this tragedy while continuing their vital work.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected during this difficult time.
Flags at Town facilities will be lowered to half-mast in recognition of this loss.”
