Statement from Mayor Elaine Manzer on the Lapu Lapu Day tragedy:
"On behalf of the Town of Peace River, I extend our deepest condolences to the Filipino community in Vancouver and across Canada following the Lapu Lapu Day tragedy. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all those affected during this difficult time.
In solidarity and remembrance, we have half-masted the Philippines flag at the roundabout downtown. This act symbolizes our collective mourning and support for the Filipino community. The flag will remain half-masted until sunset on May 5, 2025.
Peace River stands united with you, sharing in your grief and offering our unwavering support."
