Signs have gone up around the community warning people to stay away from the river during break-up.
Break-up conditions can be very dangerous, with unstable ice and strong river currents underneath.
Stay clear of riverbanks, boat launches, and shore areas. Obey all barricades. Keep off the river, and never go on the river during break-up.
If you see a significant water or flooding issue, call the Town of Peace River’s Public Works department at 780-624-3085 (24/7 number).
