A Public Hearing has been scheduled before the second reading of Land Use Bylaw No. 2178.
Pursuant to Section 606 of the Municipal Government Act, being Chapter M-26 of the Statutes of Alberta, notice is hereby given that the Council of the Town of Peace River will hold a Public Hearing before second reading of Land Use Bylaw No. 2178 to replace Land Use Bylaw No. 1891.
➡ New Land Use Bylaw
Bylaw No. 2178 provides a modernized development regulation for the Town. The new Bylaw can be found on the Town’s website at www.peaceriver.ca/LUBrefresh or viewed at the Town Office during normal office hours.
A draft version of the Bylaw was available from February 2025 to July 2025 on the Town’s website for public review and comment. An updated version received first reading on July 14, 2025, and included changes based on received public feedback and further staff review.
➡ Land Use Districts
The new Bylaw redistricts every property in the Town with the land use districts of the new Bylaw. The existing (Bylaw no. 1891) and new (Bylaw no. 2178) land use district for every property can be viewed on the Town’s web map system: https://peaceriver.maps.arcgis.com/home/index.html and is also linked on the project web page.

The new Bylaw includes overlays that establish rules that apply to specific lands within Town. The overlays can also be viewed on the Town’s web map system.

Council of the Town of Peace River has given first reading to Bylaw No. 2178 and will hold a public hearing as follows:
