Poppy Campaign Kicks Off

Mayor Shelly Shannon along with Coun. Brandon Dous, Coun. Olayemi Babalola, Coun. Robin Erickson, Coun. Orren Ford, and Director of Protective Services Daniel Cress received poppies in the Council Chamber today to kick off the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62's poppy campaign.

Robert Bartels, 1st Vice President of the local legion, and Sergeant at Arms Mark Kelly presented the group with poppies.

As 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War 2, Remembrance Day feels especially important this year. You are encouraged to support the Legion and remembrance by purchasing a poppy, available at businesses around town and the Legion (Fridays after 4pm and Saturdays after 2pm). You can also purchase lawn signs from the Legion.

Remembrance Day service is November 11 at TA Norris School. Doors open at 930 am.
