The town will illuminate the Peace River bridge in pink this evening, Friday, August 28, 2026, as a tribute to Dolly Parton. While Dolly never visited Peace River in person, her legacy continues to make a lasting impact. Thanks to the generous support of the Peace River Rotary Club and the Peace River Friends of the Library Society, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Peace River officially launched in October 2025.
Since December 2025, we have mailed 340 books to children in our community. We currently have 61 children enrolled, and eight children have graduated from the program after reaching the age limit. Each graduate received Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come! as their final Imagination Library book. A special way to celebrate the next step in their learning journey.
The Imagination Library has already become a wonderful part of our community. By putting books directly into children’s hands and giving them something to enjoy at home, the program helps encourage a love of reading from an early age.
