If you live in the north end, you might see a bunch of firefighters tomorrow night and may even get a knock on your door!
But don't worry – it's because the Peace River Fire Department will be undertaking a Training Evacuation Exercise Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
Each year, the department reviews the Town's Municipal Emergency Plan, including the department's role in potential evacuations. As part of this, the PRFD will be carrying out a practice evacuation notice to residents in the north end.
➡️ THIS IS ALL PRACTICE AND TRAINING. THERE IS NO EMERGENCY. ⬅️
Crews will be going door-to-door and interacting with residents as if it were a real emergency evacuation (it's not). The fire department will then review how the exercise went and make any adjustments needed in preparation for a real evacuation event.
This year, the training will be taking place in the north end of town from about 7pm to 8:30pm.
Again, there is NO EMERGENCY. This is all for training and practice.
