Catch Council on Monday, April 27?
Here are some highlights:
- Ken Drysdale, chairman of the Maskwa Medical Centre, presented to Council an update about the centre. You can see the whole presentation in the agenda package.
- Council gave second and third reading to the Meeting Procedures Bylaw, which governs the rules around Council meetings. One of the changes is moving public comments up closer to the start of meetings, making it easier for residents to have their voice heard at Council.
- Council set the reserve bids for several parcels to be auctioned at the 2026 tax recovery sale.
- Council approved an increase to the capital budget up to $83,000 for the Server Replacement project, with the additional $33,000 being funded from Tax-Supported Capital Reserve.
- Council approved an increase to the capital budget for the 101 Street Storm Sewer and Roadway Repair project from $1.1 million to $1.3 million, following tender submissions that came in higher than anticipated.
- Council received an update on a proposed Government of Alberta Functional Planning Study for the Highway 2 and 78 Street intersection, which will help determine future traffic needs and road design. Keep an eye out for notices from the Province regarding public consultation opportunities for the study.
- Council directed Administration to contact the Mackenzie Municipal Services Agency and inquire about what is required to apply for membership with the group and report back to Council at the next meeting.
Always more.
