The Town of Peace River is accepting applications for two (2) permanent, full- time Machine Operator 1s accountable to the Public Works Coordinator.

The Machine Operator 1 is essential to the day-to-day operations of the Town of Peace River. The position will perform labour duties and operate equipment for snow-clearing, utility digs, performing maintenance on infrastructure, and will assist other departments as required. The ideal candidate will have the following key characteristics:

  • Experience operating equipment in a road building or utility capacity including vac trucks, loaders, gravel trucks, graders, dozers and others.
  • A background working with a modern safety program including a practical and working understanding of ground disturbance, trenching safety, equipment safety, leading safety meetings, performing hazard assessments, and stopping work if necessary.
  • The ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a professional manner at all times.
  • Possessing a Class 3 License and Airbrakes endorsement.

Full Time • Permanent Employment

Wage: $31.72 per hour for the 2024 year.

The wage is governed by the Collective agreement.

Hours: Monday to Friday. 40 hours per week. On call required.

The position needs someone with a willingness to be on-call, take action in emergency response (ie, during flooding, etc.), and a desire to be part of building a great community.
